THINGS TO DO IN

Downtown Lancaster

  • FULTON THEATRE: one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the United States. Originally a jail, it evolved into a community hall before becoming a performance venue in 1873. Today, it hosts a variety of live performances and offers tours that delve into its rich history.

  • CENTRAL MARKET: the nation's oldest continuously operating farmers' market. Housed in a Victorian building since 1889, it offers a diverse array of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and baked goods from local vendors.

  • SOUTHERN MARKET: built as a farmers’ market in 1888, Lancaster’s iconic Southern Market once again brings people together over food.

  • LANCASTER MUSEUM OF ART: showcases regional artists and offers rotating exhibitions, workshops, and lectures. It's a hub for the local art community and a great place to immerse yourself in Lancaster's creative scene.

  • SOLDIERS AND SAILORS MONUMENT: located in Penn Square, this 43-foot Gothic Revival monument was dedicated in 1874 to honor Union soldiers from Lancaster County. It stands on the site of the old Lancaster Courthouse, where the Second Continental Congress met in 1777.

  • STEINMAN HARDWARE STORE: this historic hardware store building is now home to South County Brewing Company. The structure itself is a testament to Lancaster's rich architectural heritage.
